Terms of Service

The service

Astaris is an AI-assisted career intelligence platform for professionals. You create an account, upload your CV, and Astaris generates a structured profile, career path analysis, and job compatibility scores. The service is free to use within monthly limits; optional paid packages unlock higher usage.

Astaris uses artificial intelligence systems — including Google Gemini and Anthropic Claude — to process your CV and generate career insights. These systems assist you in exploring career options; they do not make employment decisions on your behalf or on behalf of any company.

Your account

You must be at least 18 years old and provide accurate information when registering. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. One account per person. You may not transfer your account to another person.

If you become aware of any unauthorised access to your account, notify us immediately at hello@astaris.io.

Your content

You retain ownership of your CV and all personal information you provide. By uploading your CV and using Astaris, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to process that content solely to provide the service you have requested. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or train our AI models on your personal data.

You are responsible for ensuring that any content you upload does not infringe the rights of third parties and does not contain material that is unlawful, offensive, or misleading.

AI processing and data

Before you create an account, Astaris may analyse your CV with AI to show you an immediate quality assessment. This pre-registration analysis is performed in memory only — no data is written to any database. After registration, your CV data is processed and stored to build your profile and generate career insights, on the legal basis of performance of contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).

Your data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. By accepting these Terms you also acknowledge the Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

You agree not to: create fake or misleading profiles; attempt to manipulate or reverse-engineer match scores or career assessments; scrape, copy, or reproduce any part of the platform without written authorisation; use Astaris for any purpose other than your own legitimate career development; or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service or its underlying systems.

Violation of these rules may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account without notice.

Intellectual property

Astaris owns all rights in the platform, including its design, software, AI models, scoring algorithms, and all content produced by Astaris (such as career path analyses and compatibility scores). Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property rights to you. You may use the outputs of the service for your own personal, non-commercial career development only.

Suspension and termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting us at hello@astaris.io. Upon closure, your personal data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Astaris may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if continued operation of your account poses a risk to other users or the integrity of the platform. We will give you reasonable notice before termination where practicable, unless the circumstances require immediate action.

Availability and changes

Astaris is provided on a commercially reasonable best-efforts basis. We do not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted availability. We may update, change, or discontinue features with reasonable notice where possible.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will notify registered users by email or via a notice on the platform. Continued use after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with a change, you may close your account before the change takes effect.

Limitation of liability

Astaris is a career guidance tool, not an employment agency or recruitment service. We do not guarantee job placement, interview outcomes, salary improvements, or the accuracy of AI-generated career analysis. Career decisions are your own responsibility — use your own judgement alongside any output from Astaris.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Astaris's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the service shall not exceed the amount you have paid to Astaris in the twelve months preceding the claim, or €50 if you have not made any payment. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses including loss of income, career opportunities, or data.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Italian law. For any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms, the parties agree to attempt to resolve the matter informally by contacting hello@astaris.io in the first instance. If the dispute cannot be resolved informally within 30 days, it shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Milan, Italy.

If you are a consumer resident in another EU member state, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence and to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
